The brief work summary: I’m a National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) Acting graduate. I’ve worked extensively in theatre, film, television and radio for longer than I care to remember but I still learn something new with each job. Theatre includes plays with The Sydney Theatre Company, The Queensland Theatre Company, Griffin, Marian Street, Q and Railway Street Theatre Companies, The Ensemble Theatre, The State Theatre Co. of S.A., Darlinghurst Theatre and others as well as National and International tours. Multiple television and film appearances include Friday On My Mind, The Bet, Us Together, Small Boxes, Out Of The Blue (BBC); All Saints, Farscape, Blue Heelers, Murder Call, Water Rats, Big Sky, Backberner, Heartbreak High, E Street, Home and Away, Sons and Daughters, McFeast, Bodyline, 1915, Cyclone Tracey and numerous others.
I’m also a writer and dramaturge. Plays produced include The Secret House, Half Safe, Photographs, On The Public Record, Across The Water and Never a Moment’s Peace and for television episodes of the acclaimed ABC medical drama GP. I assess plays for Parnassus’ Den, the Sydney based resource for new Australian playwriting. With Wayne Harrison I was dramaturge for the Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award winning play Codgers.
I have recorded multiple talking books (literally well into the many hundreds over the years) both commercially and for Vision Australia and the ABC and I have been shortlisted for several Talking Book Awards. I won the prestigious TDK/National Library Talking Book Award for my narration of Charles Frazier’s Cold Mountain. Other notable recordings and personal highlights include The Hobbit, the unabridged and complete The Lord of the Rings, The Fortunes of Richard Mahoney trilogy, Things We Didn’t See Coming by Steven Amsterdam and Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief.
If I’m not in the rehearsal room, in a studio or hunched over my keyboard I might be listening to music – unless it’s Friday evening in which case there is a more than fair chance I’ll be catching up with my mates over an after-work bevvy at our regular watering hole. Come on down – mine’s a schooner of Resch’s!
